UFF-FSU is what's known as a "chapter," an independent part of a "local," which is itself an independent part of a larger union. Our local is UFF, and our larger union is FEA. The FEA is part of the AFT and the NEA, as well as the AFL-CIO. Learn more about each group below.

UFF

UFF-FSU is the Florida State University chapter of the United Faculty of Florida (UFF), which represents more than 18,000 faculty members and professional employees at Florida’s 11 public universities, 11 of the state colleges and community colleges, and three independent universities.

FSU GAU

FSU hosts a second UFF chapter as well: the FSU chapter of Graduate Assistants United.

AFSCME

Other employees at FSU are represented by the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME)...

PBA

...and the Florida Police Benevolent Association (PBA).

FEA

UFF is one local within the Florida Education Association (FEA), which represents more than 250,000 educators in Florida, with membership in K-12 educational institutions as well as higher education.

NEA

The FEA, in turn, is affiliated with both of the major national educators’ unions: the 3.2 million-member National Education Association (NEA)...

AFT

...and the 1.7 million-member American Federation of Teachers (AFT).

AFL-CIO

The AFT is a member of the AFL-CIO, the 12.2 million-member federation of trade unions.

BBLC

Through this affiliation, UFF-FSU also participates in the AFL-CIO's regional central body, the Big Bend Chapter of the Northwest Florida Federation of Labor (also known as the Big Bend Labor Chapter).
