Bargaining and Consultation
As noted last month, the UFF-FSU bargaining team has been in negotiations with the BOT team regarding market equity distribution plans. The next bargaining session is scheduled for April 29. At this meeting, we will continue discussing market equity, and we will also begin our regularly scheduled negotiations as per the CBA. This year, each side will open two articles plus the salary article. Reopeners this year include sabbaticals, academic freedom, discipline, and benefits.

Bargaining
The UFF-FSU bargaining team has been in negotiations with the BOT team regarding market equity distribution plans. As noted at the last meeting, on February 11th, the UFF-FSU team presented our proposal that is largely based on the 2007 joint labor-management report regarding market equity. The BOT team presented its counter-proposal at this past Monday’s meeting. The next bargaining session is scheduled for March 27.

On February 11, the UFF-FSU bargaining team began negotiations with the BOT team regarding market equity distribution. At that meeting, the teams agreed on ground rules, and the UFF-FSU team presented our proposal, which is largely based on the 2007 joint labor-management report regarding market equity (you can find this report on our website). The next bargaining session is scheduled for March 11.

Bargaining

As I reported at the last Faculty Senate meeting, departmental merit and dean’s merit were implemented November 7 and reflected in your November 26 paycheck. You should also see a bonus in your December 12 paycheck that is the difference between the start of our contracts August 8 and the day the $1500 performance increases were implemented in October. We are hoping to begin bargaining the implementation of market equity in January, but we should know more after next week’s consultation.

Good news: the departmental merit and dean’s merit that we negotiated have been implemented as of November 7. You should see this in your next paycheck.
Since the Faculty Senate last met, we had a very informative meeting with Bob Bradley, who was tasked with updating the market equity study that was done in 2007. Perhaps it’s no surprise to many of you: Lack of market equity at the associate and full professor levels is extremely problematic. His insights will be very useful for negotiations regarding market equity, which we hope will commence soon.
