Bargaining News and Faculty Poll

Bargaining begins again a week from today. Several articles will be open, including salaries and benefits. We’ll keep you updated on the negotiations. As I noted last month, our next presidential consultation will be held May 14.

With these meetings ahead of us, it is really important that all faculty members complete the UFF-FSU faculty poll. Your responses to questions regarding salaries, evaluations, evaluations of administrators, promotion committees, and so on, truly help us help all of you in bargaining and consultations. I know we’ve been asked to take several surveys lately, but this one directly addresses working conditions at FSU and can have tangible effects. So please take the poll, and encourage your colleagues to take the poll as well. This is an opportunity for faculty to have their voices heard.

We are gearing up for bargaining, and there are two key ways to get involved coming up in the next month or so:

One way is the UFF-FSU faculty poll: Please be on the lookout for the UFF-FSU poll in April. Of course, I will send you multiple email reminders once the poll is ready to go, and please remind your colleagues to take the poll as well. Our poll is extremely important because it helps us to determine faculty needs and bargaining priorities. All faculty members are encouraged to participate. Topics will include the Presidential search, Specialized Faculty, prestige award raises, and much more!

Implementation of CBA and Faculty Poll

In bargaining news, you may have noticed that seven different types of raises and bonuses from the latest contract have been implemented with an eighth one still to come, which is the $600 merit bonus for 35% in June.

Please be on the lookout for the UFF-FSU faculty poll in April. I can’t emphasize enough the importance of responses to our poll, for your responses help us represent all of you in bargaining and beyond.

CBA Implementation and Distribution

Several additional provisions of the 2013-2016 collective bargaining agreement have been implemented since the Faculty Senate last met in December, including the open enrollment of domestic partner benefits and the one-time payment of $244 in most faculty members’ December 13 paychecks. Hard copies of the new CBAs are being distributed to UFF members and are available to everyone free online at our website or for $7.20 from Amazon.
